Balloon Fiesta awaits balloons stuck in China

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) – New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson is negotiating with Chinese Embassy officials to bring 13 special shaped hot air balloons to the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta.
The governor wants the balloons to be flown back to the United States in time for the fiesta, which starts Saturday and runs through Oct. 11.

The balloons have been held for weeks in China after a dispute between a Chinese company and an American balloon event producer. Many of the balloons are scheduled to fly at the balloon fiesta. Special shaped balloons are created in the shape of animals, characters or objects. The balloons were part of an August ballooning event in Inner Mongolia.read more
