The left-handed cricket legend Wasim Akram’s wife Huma Akram dies in Apollo Hospital in Chennai, India. Huma Akram was due in Singapore for treatment on October 21 but due to her critical condition Lahore–Singapore flight landed at Chennai on Tuesday. Huma Akram was suffering with liver related disease.
42-year-old Huma Akram, the wife of one of the greatest all-rounders in the history of Pakistan cricket Wasim Akram, has expired in the Apollo Hospital Chennai India, at around 09:30 am today of multiple organ failure. It has also been learnt that she had brain tumor too. Huma Akram was admitted in the Apollo hospital on last Tuesday on emergency basis.
Both Wasim Akram and Huma Akram were aboard a chartered plane from Lahore Pakistan to Singapore where Huma was due for medical treatment but while the plane (Singapore-bound air ambulance) stopped for refueling at Chennai, keeping in view the critical condition of her the team of doctors accompanying and attending her in the plane suggested an emergency landing in Chennai.

n was sought from the concerned authorities and the patient was admitted in Chennai. Today’s press release aired the news of her death following the condolence messages from Chairman Pakistan Cricket Board and the Chief Operating Officer Ijaz Butt and Wasim Bari, respectively on behalf of PCB.Former Pakistan Cricket team captain Wasim and Huma Akram Mufti remained married for over fourteen years and Wasim has fathered two sons off Huma. Wasim Akram represented Pakistan in 104 test matches and 368 ODIs during a marvelous career of 17 years. He also won Pakistan the World Cup as a captain.
Wasim was the first person in the world to achieve 500 or more wickets in ODIs (502). He also grabbed 414 wickets in 104 test matches and holds a unique record of 881 wickets in List-A cricket (most wickets taken ever). He retired from the international cricket in the year 2002.
