Four beauties from Asia, including the Philippines, one from Scandinavia and 10 from Latin America emerged as crowd favorites to win the Miss Universe 2009 beauty pageant which will be held in the Bahamas Monday.
Miss Indonesia Zivanna Letisha Siregar is favored to win the beauty contest based on an online poll sponsored by the Miss Universe organization.
Miss Brazil Larissa Costa and Miss Peru Karen Schwarz took the second and third spots in the poll, respectively.
The other candidates who made the Top 15 slots in order of their ranking based on the poll were Miss Ecuador Sandra Vinces, Miss Vietnam Hoang Yen Vo, Miss Guatemala Lourdes Figueroa, Miss Thailand Chutima Durongdej, Miss El Salvador Mayella Mena, Miss Venezuela Stefania Fernandez,
Miss Mexico Karla Carillo, Miss Philippines Pamela Bianca Manalo, Miss Colombia Michelle Rouillard, Miss Bolivia Dominique Peltier, Miss Panama Diana Broce and Miss Iceland Injibjorg Egilsdottir.
Reports said more than 50,000 submissions were recorded on the pageant’s website. Organizers have to shut down the site due to heavy traffic.
