Bonobos, an online apparel company that manufactures men’s clothing, including pants, shorts and t-shirts, is taking a page from Zappos.com, using viral advertising to market their brand, and even luring a number of Zappos staffers to their side.
Brian Spaly and Andy Dunn, classmates at Stanford University Graduate School of Business, formed the company in late 2007 after Spaly became frustrated trying to find pants that fit, and designed his own.
Dunn admits that the company’s approach to customer service was directly inspired by Zappos.com. Customers are encouraged to order multiple sizes and return those that don’t fit with the free return shipping labels included with every order.
The company utilizes social media such as Twitter and Facebook to appeal to a targeted audience.read more
