Men:

Julius Keter, defending champion and runner no. 1.
Keter, 20, isfrom Kenya. His 2008 Baltimore marathon time of 2:11:56 is the event record.

Peter Kemboi , runner no. 7.
Kemboi, 29, was born and lives in Kenya. His personal best of 2:09:21 was set when he captured Mombosa (Kenya) in 2007.

Samuel Ndereba, runner no. 13.
Ndereba, 32, was born in Kenya and lives in Philadelphia. His personal best half marathon time is 1:01:56, set in Philadelphia last month. This is his marathon debut.

Ketema Nigusse, runner no. 14.
Nigusse, 28, is from Ethiopia and currently lives in Addis Ababu. He posted his personal marathon best of 2:14:26 in Tempe, Ariz., earlier this year

Fikedu Lemma, runner no. 10.
Lemma, 26, is from Ethiopia and lives in The Bronx, New York. He posted his personal best marathon, 2:15:12, in Los Angeles earlier this year.

Joseph Chirlee, runner no. 22.
Chirlee, 29, is from Kenya. His current marathon PR (2:12:10) was achieved at the 2007 Rock 'N' Roll Marathon. His marathon victories include: 2006 Rocket City Marathon - 2:23:32; 2007 ING Georgia Marathon - 2:19:17; 2008 Deseret News Salt Lake Marathon - 2:18:16

Tesfaye Bekele, runner no. 5.
Berkele, 27, is from Ethiopia and lives in The Bronx. He won the Columbus, Ohio half marathon in 2009 with a time of 1:00:38.5

Isaac Macharia, runner no. 11.
Macharia, 22, is from Kenya and lives in Las Cruces, New Mexico. He won the 2009 Caliacan, Mexico Marathon with a personal best of 2:14:30

Women:

Maria Portilla, defending champ and runner no. 50.
Portilla, 36, is from Peru, and won last year's marathon with a time of 2:36:32. Her personal best was set at the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games; 2:35:22. Her marathon victories include: 2008 Baltimore (2:36:32); 2008 Salt Lake City, Utah (2:39:39); 2007 Salt Lake City, Utah (2:39:00)

Iulia Arkhipova, runner no. 53.
Arkhipova, 25, is from Kyrgyzstan. Her personal best is 2:34:10 (Frankfurt, 2007).

Neriah Asiba, runner no. 54.
Asiba, 28, is from Kenya and resides in Norristown, Pa. Her personal best marathon time is 2:35:26, and she placed 8th at 2009 Cherry Blossom 10K.

Runner no. 70: Natalia Sokolova Sokolova, 27, is from Russia. Her personal best marathon is 2:32:01, when she won the 2008 California International Marathon in Sacramento. She's also won the 2008 St. Petersburg, Russia Marathon with a time of 2:38:12.

Tatiana Pushkareva, runner no. 69.
Pushkareva, 24, is from Russia. Her marathon personal best is 2:34:55, and she placed 4th in the 2008 San Antonio Marathon in addition to winning the 2007 Tyumen Marathon in Russia with a time of 2:39:08.

Lucy Njeri Muhami, runner no. 67.
Muhami, 3, is from Kenya. She is the winner of the Mazatlan Marathon in 2008 and 2005, where she set her personal best time of 2:34:47.

Yolanda Fernandez, runner no. 62.
Fernandez. 28, is from Columbia. She set her personal best of 2:39:21 in Rotterdam in 2008.

Yuka Aikawa, runner no. 52.
Aikawa, 25, is from Japan.

Speedy Locals

Lee DiPietro, runner no. 61.
DiPietro, 51, is from Ruxton. She has qualified for two Olympic trials and won the 2008 Palm Beach Marathon with a time of 2:55:41. Her personal best, of 2:47:00 was set at the Boston Marathon in 2000.

Denise Knickman, runner no. 66.
Knickman, 41, is from Baltimore. She's the winner of the 2009 Frederick Marathon (3:02:20) and is competing in her fifth Baltimore Marathon. Her best Baltimore Time is 2:5626 (2008); and her personal marathon record is 2:47:26, set at the 1998 Chicago Marathon.

Kyle Smits
Smits, 30, is originally from Seattle but currently lives in Federal Hill in Baltimore. His marathon personal best is 2:31 set at the Washington DC National Marathon in 2007.
