Gary Vee:The winery is a busy place so you know something special is going on when it all comes to a halt. Last Thursday was one of those days, when our favorite social media guru and wine lover Gary Vaynerchuk came in to blend his 2007 Vayniac Cabernet Sauvignon.
Gary’s been to Crushpad a number of times, but he’s such a cool guy that we can’t help but want to hang out with him when he’s in town. Eight lucky Vayniacs got to do just that by helping Gary and Crushpad’s resident Cabernet expert Kian Tavakoli blend the inaugural Vayniac wine. (You can watch the video from Gary and the Vayniac’s blending session – and keep an ear out for Gary’s favorite song of the day, which he had stuck in his head during the blending.)
With help from the group, Kian and Gary came up with a great blend, while Vayniacs far and wide got to watch the action live via Crush Cam and pose their own blending questions to our wine education wizard Stu. Gary described the finished blend as being interesting and complex, nuanced (with notes of Earl Gray tea), with bright fruit and tannins. The 2007 Vayniac Cab is being bottled next week. We can’t wait to taste more of it.
