December 5: Was it true justice for Meredith Kercher? Perugia verdict satisfies Kercher family. There was a mixed reaction in the court after the judge announced that the Seattle native Amanda Knox would be sentenced to 26 years in jail for murdering her housemate two years ago. The family of Meredith Kercher, murdered by Knox, who was present in the court, was satisfied with the guilty verdict.The victim’s brother declared his satisfaction. However, Knox broke in sobs. Raffaele Sollecito, the former Italian boyfriend of Knox got 25 years in prison.
After the verdict the Kercher family organized a press conference to air their views. Lyle Kercher said: “It was not a time for celebration as two young people had been sentenced to long prison terms”.
The 21-year-old Kercher’s dead body was recovered from her bedroom, strangled and stabbed to death. On November 2, 2007, her body was found half-naked in a house she shared with Knox and two other women.
The court was informed by prosecutor Giuliano Mignini the reason that led to Kercher’s death. He alleged that a drug-fueled sex game involving Sollecito and a 22-year-old Ivorian, Rudy Guede, was masterminded by Knox. But after some time it turned violent in which Kercher was murdered.
However, all the accused have maintained that they were not involved in the murder. And Knox got support from some US people, who were upset by the conviction.

You can tell this loss absolutely crushed Tim. He was crying at the end of the game and during his interview at midfield. I’m sure it was very tough for him knowing the Gators let their fans down. Tim Tebow will have one final game as a Florida Gator sometime in January. They’ll get a BCS Bowl Game, but it won’t mean that much not being a National Championship Game.
