The Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN) will launch a documentary film club when it premieres in 2011, The Hollywood Reporter said Wednesday.Borrowing on the success of the insanely-popular Oprah Book Club, the eagerly-awaited cable network will partner with Ro*co Productions for a monthly series. All selections will have inspirational themes, sources say.
Footage from each month’s features will stream on OWN.tv, while some of the documentaries will receive national theater distribution. OWN, which debuts in Jan. 2011, plans to create communities across the nation to screen and discuss the films in a live panel event.
