Barack Obama's chivalrous pursuit of an agreement on climate change has made him the definition of quixotic. Ignoring all reason, not wanting to disappoint his loyal followers he is trudging ahead seemingly oblivious to Congress and their thoughts on the matter. Has his dream of a green economy got the best off him. He is due to arrive in Copenhagen on December 18th with shield in hand ready to save the world, not knowing that the world does not want saving, at least the United States anyway. He is caught in the grand illusion that Americans can forget about not having jobs, dismiss the fact that the health care legislation is still not done, and keep hope alive under the starkest of realities.What a President ?, now his next mission is to convince Americans that the economy is suddenly turning around and all will be well soon. Is it all a dream, are we that close to breaking out of our economic slump after so short a time. Any recent graduate in economics would tell you we are not even close. The unemployment numbers we saw last week for November showed small signs of life in the economy could be the beginning, but certainly nothing to get excited about.
