ISSUES:Time to leave Afghanistan

Two weeks ago, eight more American soldiers were killed in Afghanistan. In this same province in 2008, nine soldiers were killed.

Between the Taliban and al-Qaida, it seems that the hit-and-run tactics resemble those in the Vietnam War. These people fear no loss of a life and are not afraid of blowing themselves up and killing as many of our troops as possible. We still have not even caught one man, Osama bin Laden, after eight years of fighting. How will it help to send more troops?

If we worry about terrorism, we should pull our troops back here, surround our borders with the same security and use our resources better, instead of wasting taxpayers' money. Huge profits are being made by big contractors - but are more than 4,000 soldiers and thousands more of others worth it? Baghdad has so many bombings every day, many have left there. Afghanistan's not much better.

We have to get politics out of this war and really ask ourselves how much longer. We don't need another Bush or Cheney dictating war policies.
